Superbikes at Knockhill has become much more than just a race meeting, it's a real festival gathering with entertainment, action and enjoyment for all. Over the years the British Superbike Championship has grown in stature and returns this year as one of our 'flagship' events. The depth of riders, teams and potential winners will certainly have all the fans who attend on tenterhooks!!

The British Supersport Championship continues to lead the support class line-up and has become the place for manufacturers to go head-to head and upcoming talent to be discovered. This year's racing has been superb. Realistically anyone in the top ten could conceivably win a race. The series also see's a number of Scots compete, it's certainly one for all the home fans to keep an eye on..

The Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship is one of the most fiercely-contested BSB support series, with young riders competing alongside professional racers and major manufacturers using the series' to showcase their production road machines.

Monster Energy Motostar British Championship

The Motostar British Championship is the ideal environment for up and coming young rider development. Scottish talents to race in the 2013 series included Tarran Mackenzie on-board his Redline KTM, Huntly's Callum Bey and Jason Vernon (Dumfries).

The Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship

The Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship is designed to identify new riding talent and provide a progression route to higher classes of racing. This class is strictly for riders aged 16-25; previous champions have all progressed onto British Supersport or Superbike rides. There are also quite a few Scots who will be hoping to put on good show on home soil; Michael Robertson, Greg Gilfillan, Daniel Kinloch, Tim Hastings and potentially a few wild-cards entries from the Scottish racing scene.

Shane Byrne - Three Times BSB Champion

Treble Superbike Champion

Shakey returns to the MCE British Superbike Championship as defending Champion, determined to secure his 4th BSB title. Byrne already has a number of race wins under his belt this year and the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider knows his way around Knockhill. Continuity could be the key for Byrne this year, returning with the same team, riding the same bike that took him to the overall title last year.

Ryuichi Kiyonari - Three Times BSB Champion

Treble Superbike Champion

Japanese star, Ryuichi Kiyonari returns to the BSB looking to set his own record breaking title haul, much like Byrne, he too sits on 3 BSB titles and is looking for his fourth. The Samsung Honda rider hasn't enjoyed the best of starts to the season; however, test data secured at Knockhill earlier this year could prove pivotal in his championship challenge. He certainly has the speed and know-how to win; he just needs a slice of luck and some extra confidence to kick-start his season.

Josh Brookes

2012 Runner Up

Aussie, Brookes returns with Northern Irish TAS Racing that took him to a 2nd place finish in 2012. Admittedly it took the team and Brookes a few rounds to get going last year, but once they did, they were a force to be reckoned with. Make no mistake, Brookes wants that BSB Championship and he'll be looking to hit-the-ground running at Knockhill onboard his Tyco Suzuki racing machine. Brookes has a decent record round Knockhill; regulary making it into the top five. No doubt, he will be pushing hard for his first race win of the season.

Alex Lowes

BSB - MCE British Superbike Championship
Samsung Honda

BSB Wins
4th in 2012

Lowes has been on a mission from the start of the season, the 23 year old has been one of the most consistent performers all year. The Samsung Honda rider has been on the podium in every race so far this season. Like Kiyonari, he will have a wealth of setup data following the team's test earlier this year at Knockhill. Don't be suprised if Lowes scores another couple of podiums at Knockhill; a circuit that hasn't been kind to him in the past. Let's see if he can rectify that come June!

Stuart Easton (Motorpoint British Supersport Championship)

MCE British Superbike Championship
Mar-Train Yamaha
Hawick, Scotland
14 years bike racing experience
3rd in BSB and former Supersport Champ

Easton returns the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship with Mar-Train Yamaha. The Irish outfit went close to the title last year with Jack Kennedy, eventually, losing out to Glen Richards. Easton a former Supersport Champion, and sitting 2nd in the current standings, is renowned for his lightening starts. He know's Knockhill well and will be keen to assert his authority on the races, hailing from Hawick, Stuart will also be invloved in the Steve Hislop tribute (one of his all time racing heroes).

Taylor Mackenzie (Motorpoint British Supersport Championship)

BSB-MCE British Superbike Championship
Tyco Suzuki
Ashby De La Zouch
2nd year in Supersport
Former MotoGP 125 Rider

Taylor Mackenzie or T-Mack, heads into his second year in Supersport with Tyco Suzuki by TAS Racing. Despite living down south, Taylor is Scottish through-and-through and always sports a saltire and a Knockhill sticker on his helmet. Taylor has been making steady progress over the past two seasons, he'll be looking for a strong top ten finish at Knockhill; a podium however, would not only delight the home crowd, but bring an enourmous grin to Dad, Niall's face.

BSB pics galore

Here's our gallery from this weekend's MCE British Superbike Championship event. Massive thanks to Iain Struthers ( for all his hard work over the weekend. I'm sure you'll agree that they sum up the event pretty well.

Remembering Steve Hislop

SCOTS BIKE LEGEND Steve Hislop's memory was celebrated today at the latest round of the British Superbike Championship at Knockhill (we remember Steve Hislop in his exclusive final interview). Hizzy, the 41-year-old double BSB champ, and 11-time IoM TT winner, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash 10 years ago.

Clinical Byrne does the double

Shane Byrne took his second MCE British Superbike race win at Knockhill today in clinical fashion. The Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider, who has had a helicopter on standby all weekend in case he needed to rush away to wife, Petra’s bedside in hospital; held off a last lap challenge from Josh Brookes to claim his 7th win at Knockhill.

Byrne claims his 46th race win at Knockhill

Shane Byrne secured his 6th race win at Knockhill and the 46th of his career during the opening MCE British Superbike Championship race today. The Rapid Solicitor’s man was coolness personified; pursuing Aussie star, Josh Brookes, until the final stages of the race before making his move in the scorching, Scottish heat.

Lowes wins the warm up battle

The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up session was a three-way scrap again between the leading trio of riders as Alex Lowes managed to get the better of Josh Brookes and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne in the final three minutes.

Important BSB Event Info

Sunday 16th June will see the conclusion to the MCE British Superbike Event at Knockhill. There are still plenty of tickets available. You can book until midnight tonight or pay at the gate. Please read this important info, it could make you visit a whole lot easier.

Byrne bags pole at lap record pace

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne claimed pole for tomorrow’s opening MCE British Superbike Championship race with a blistering lap time of 48.333 seconds. That lap, would give Byrne the outright lap record in the Superbike class if he manages to recreate the same pace on Sunday.

Saturday class round up

Aussie Levi Day starts his MotoBreakers Yamaha from pole ahead of Michael Robertson and Matthew Paulo after rain affected qualifying sessions. Series leader Jordan Simpkin on the Team AHR Go Racing Developments Yamaha starts from the middle of the second row, sandwiched in between Callan Cooper and Tom Fisher.

Boomerang Brookes tops final free practice

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes set the fastest time in a frantic end to the third free practice session for the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship contenders at Knockhill as the track dried and the times were slashed in the closing minutes.

Lowes crashes out as Byrne tops free practice two

Alex Lowes and Shane Byrne were the fastest two men on track during free practice at Knockhill today; ahead of round 4 of the MCE British Superbike Championship this weekend. Both the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider and the Samsung Honda regularly traded places at the top of the time sheets; before Byrne, set the quickest time of the day with a 48.774 second lap in the dying moments of the session.
