This year's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship event is a special one, it will be our 20th Anniversary hosting Britian's premier tin-top racing series. Whenever the BTCC rolls into Knockhill, it brings controversy, rivalry and flat out hammer-and-tongs racing. As part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations we will be joined by some the best known Scottish BTCC drivers from the past twenty years. So, come along and join the likes of Reid, Cleland, Adam and Irvine during what will be a fabulous weekend of racing action at Knockhill.

Come and see Britain's premier racing series tackle the twists and dips of the Knockhill circuit. Touring Cars at Knockhill provides and action-packed day of entertainment for the whole family. It's a true festival of speed with exhilarating racing action all day long. You can even meet the stars, get autographs and merchandise goodies from your favourite teams. Knockhill can be an challenging venue for the competitors, but one thing is for sure... you are guaranteed superb action.

QUALIFYING – It's the first psychological battle of the weekend, competitors and teams work flat out to get the best performance around the Knockhill track and ultimately, that front row grid position. Will the qualifying lap record go like last year? Be here to find out!!

Sunday 26th August

RACE DAY – Expect action all the way as Britain's best racing drivers compete flat out on the 1.3 mile championship circuit. The form guide goes out the window at Knockhill, the challenging corners, undulations and bumper to bumper racing can conjure some unpredictable results.

Raceday Programmes

Special 20th Anniversary British Touring Car raceday programmes can be purchased in advance. This year's programme will feature a six page feature on all the Scottish BTCC stars of the past 20 years. When you purachse a programme we will issue a redeemable voucher that entitles you to collect your programme from any booth on site during the event.

Camping

Weekend camping will be available at the 2012 round of the MSA British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill over the weekend of 24/25/26 August. Camping must only be purchased with a ticket (unless season pass holder). A wristband will be sent along with the ticket, you must keep both on you at all times, no access to the campsite is permitted without the band (see the FAQs for further info).

Weekend Camping - £20.00 per person. (Under 12’s free)

Caravans -
Caravans must not be longer than 8m x 4m (24ftx12ft) and no awnings are permitted. ALL Caravans must have a valid Caravan pass and pay a surcharge of £20.



Scotland’s own Gordon Shedden narrowly missed out on the title last year and will be back for another title assault. Past masters Jason Plato and Matt Neal will be renewing old rivalries and perhaps forging some new ones. A top notch programme of BTCC racing and supporting events awaits!

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is the most important race championship in the UK, with a year history dating back to 1958. Cars are based on production models (i.e. Honda Civic, Ford Focus etc.) but with scope for development of suspension, engines and gearboxes. New 2012 regulations mean that the playing field will be fairer for all teams, so expect the unexpected in the MSA British Touring Car Championship for 2012.

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is a one-make series promoted by Porsche Cars GB for identical 911 GT3 Cup cars. The cars are purpose built and manufactured in Germany. The 2012 version has an updated 3.8 litre, 430 bhp engine, capable off speeds in excess of 170mph. The Pro-am2 category caters for series newcomers from 2007 and earlier.

This is the senior of Ginetta’s two BTCC support categories with more experienced drivers competing in faster, more powerful sportscars compared to the youngsters in the Junior field. The GT Supercup for is open to two types of car – the 3.5-litre G50 that has raced as a stand-alone category in recent seasons and its brand new successor, the even more powerful 3.7-litre G55 that will be the headline class.

Ginetta Junior Championship

The championship is for young drivers aged 14 to 17 and, having joined the BTCC's support package in 2008, has now truly emerged as the UK’s top junior race championship. The G40 model is a two-seater sportscar, powered by a 1800cc Zetec engine and are identical in performance. This ensures the racing is both action-packed and highly entertaining for the watching crowds and TV audiences

Having missed out on the BTCC Championship title last year by a mere 8 points, Flash returns to the BTCC with renewed vigour and determination to become the first Scottish champion since John Cleland in 1995. Shedden has become one of the most consistent performers over the past few years and will be one of the favourites going into the new season.

Prediction - A very strong season awaits Shedden and potentially the BTCC title.

Inverness based Newsham comes into his 2nd BTCC season with a new team and car. Newsham switched from the Special Tuning Racing squad to join Chris James at Team ES Racing for 2012. After a turbulant debut season, Newsham will be looking to cement his place anomg the BTCC's elite, and the former Renault Clio champ has all the attributes to acheive his goal.

Prediction - Newsham will be looking to get into the points regularly this season.

Jason Plato can best be described as 'marmite' - you either love him or you hate him! One thing is for sure though, Jason's will to win and determination burn as strong as ever. Plato enters the 2012 season with the MG KX Momentum Racing team and although it's a completely new experience for MG, Plato's vast experience will be a major factor in their development. Plato wants his 3rd Championship title, if only to match his arch rival, Matt Neal.

Prediction - It's very simple with Plato, it's all about winning!

The reigning BTCC Champion returns for another season looking for his fourth championship crown. Neal is one of the toughest BTCC competitors on the circuit and will be in-the-mix from the off. Not only will Neal have to compete with the rest of the BTCC grid, he'll have to subdue his team-mate Shedden if he wants to win.

Prediction - Has all the skills and more importantly, the know-how to win BTCC titles.

Jackson looks forward to another season on-board his rapid Ford Focus, he knows all-to-well that this year may just be his. 2011 saw Jackson win 4 BTCC races, secure 6 podium finishes and take 7 fastest laps. Jackson eventually ended the season in 4th, however the Redstone Racing driver had his fair share of bad luck during the run-in.

Prediction - He wants to be a BTCC Champion, given better luck this could be his year.

Knockhill's Rory Butcher comes into his 2nd full Porsche Carrera Cup season with a brand new spec Porsche 911. Butcher has shown potential whenever he has driven in the championship, and that perhaps was the reason he was promoted to the main class for this year. Rory again teams up with the Celtic Speed outfit and will also be joined on the grid by fellow Scots, Glynn Geddie, Derek Pierce, George Brewster and Oly Mortimor.

Prediction - A big season for Butcher, needs to compete and race hard.

An adult ticket will be issued when the purchaser is over 16 years old.



Concession Ticket Info

An concession ticket will be issued when the purchaser is 12-16 years (inclusive), OAP (60 yrs+), Disabled, Student* must have photographic student ID



Kids Ticket Info

Any child up to 11 years of age will be subject to no admission charges and therefore gain FREE ENTRY to the scheduled event. (except where stated)



Family Ticket Info

Family tickets consist of 2 Adults + 2 Concession* note children up to age 11yrs get free entry, therefore family ticket only applies if children are 12yrs and over


Parking

Parking, at most events parking is available close to the spectator areas. At major events all parking is on site but may not be inside the circuit grounds and the circuit may not be visible from your car. For disabled there are a limited number of trackside parking spaces. The paved and elevated disabled viewing areas are close to these parking spaces.



Buses

Buses, we can accommodate groups arriving by bus.  The car parks are not suitable for buses therefore passengers will be directed to disembark near the pedestrian gate and then the bus will be parked in the designated area.



Drop-offs / Taxis

At major events with a high traffic flow the drop off area for taxi’s etc. will be next to the TICKET COLLECTION POINT this area will have a suitable turning area and access to exit routes. Passengers should then proceed to the pedestrian gates to purchase tickets if required.

At all other events drop-offs can be made at the main entrance gate.



Carers

Carers in possession of ID or a letter to confirm they are a carer get free entry when accompanying a disabled person.


Animals

Animals are not permitted on site or in any of the car parks or camp sites.



Camping

Camping is available at the British Superbike and British Touring Car events. Camping spaces must be pre-booked and can only be purchased alongside a ticket purchase.

  • Camping must only be purchased with a ticket (unless season pass holder)
  • A wristband will be sent along with the ticket, you must keep both on you at all times, no access to the campsite is permitted without the band
  • No animals allowed
  • No awnings allowed on caravans
  • Caravans must not be longer than 8m (£20 surcharge for caravans - pre-book only)
  • There is no power provided
  • Toilets and showers are within the campsite
  • Under 12’s free
  • Cars will not be parked next to tents or caravans, there is a separate car park
  • No fires or fireworks
  • BBQs are permitted, they must be attended to at all times
  • Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis

At all other events camping facilities are not provided, please look at our accommodation section for facilities close to Knockhill.



Tickets

Tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to another event.  For ticket transfers the tickets must be received at the office before the event start date. Tickets cannot be transferred after the event date.
